Adult Groups

Getting Connected!

At WCPC we encourage everyone to get connected—to feel a part of something larger than yourself! There are many opportunities for adults, allowing you to grow in your personal spirituality and share your gifts with us and with the world around us. It's certainly not required, but we think the benefits of new friendships and satisfaction will help you grow to love our God even more!

Fall 2014 Wednesday Study Group

This fall, the Wednesday Study Group will begin the Great Courses series Jesus and the Gospels, by Luke Timothy Johnson.

The figure of Jesus has tantalized both Christians and non-Christians who have sought definitive answers to questions about his words, his acts, and even his very existence. For most of the last 2,000 years, the search for those answers has begun with the Gospels, but the Gospels themselves raise puzzling questions about both Jesus and the religious movement within which these narratives were produced. They also provide sometimes bewilderingly diverse images of Jesus.
What accounts for this great diversity in the images of Jesus that have emerged, or in the approaches taken to understanding the story of his death and resurrection? Is it possible to shape a single picture from the various accounts of his life given us by these Gospels? Can we really know who Jesus was?

Each of the 36 lessons will feature a 30-minute video lecture.
A team of seven people has volunteered to share the discussion leadership.
No other study materials are required for this course.
However, you may want to order either the course outline book or the full lecture transcripts.
